I have put in a great deal of effort and expense to live the way I choose to live. I get what I want and I am willing to pay for that privilege. This is not a boast but rather simply fact. I have endured a long career where I had to sacrifice a great deal to be where I am today. I get what I want now and I expect that to be the case. There are 2 other women on my team as assistants. They were to be in charge of the care of my home while I was abroad for a six week art buying trip. Returning home, it appears as though I will have to fire at least one if not both of them. I opened the front door to a blast of hot, moist air. The thermostat read 87 degrees. The state of the art HVAC system had been turned off. I could only hope the heating and cooling system had not been off all the long. As soon as I turned up the lights I knew it was bad. There were signs of mildew on a great number of my precious possessions. The HVAC system must stay on in order to maintain the correct humidity levels. This is a must and someone dropped the ball. Either someone turned off the heating and cooling unit or the power went out. Whatever happened, my home was not checked on daily as required. My first call will be to a cleaning crew to come in immediately and see what can be saved. I will be back in a hotel room until the cleaning is complete. My next call will be to my 2 assistants to meet me for a better understanding of how the HVAC unit was left off for much of my time away.
